LEVICK has joined with a number of prominent communications firms and newspaper editorial boards from all over the country in voicing our support for the First Amendment and a free and unfettered press.
This statement from Page accurately reflects LEVICK’s philosophy: “Our profession is intertwined with journalism. Both are committed to informing the public, bringing truth to light and holding institutions accountable. We must fight to preserve this crucial alliance.”
Dear Page & Page Up Members,
As newspapers publish editorials today about the importance of their role enabling democracy, Page has joined a number of other leading PR organizations in issuing a statement voicing our universal support for the Fourth Estate.
Our profession is intertwined with journalism. Both are committed to informing the public, bringing truth to light and holding institutions accountable. We must fight to preserve this crucial alliance. From today’s statement:
“[W]e are dependent on a free press, and rely upon it as we speak honestly and fearlessly on behalf of ourselves, our companies, clients and causes. A free press provides citizens access to information and opinions so they can make their own judgements.”
Page’s recognition of our relationship with the press is longstanding. In April of last year, we issued this statement declaring our commitment to truth and kinship with journalists. As a global membership representing the very best in our profession, we pride ourselves on our commitment to the Page Principles, the first of which is “Tell the Truth.” Let us remember every day that truth is the foundation of trust, and trust is the lifeblood of our profession.
I hope you will join us in sharing today’s statement broadly and expressing your support for this important effort.
Sincerely,
Roger Bolton
President
