Dan Rene provides Levick clients with expertise based on over a decade of communications experience in media relations and crisis communications. His background includes political campaign management, legislative advocacy, grassroots initiatives, and corporate communications.
Prior to joining Levick Strategic Communications, Mr. Rene was a Founding Member of Impact Strategies, LLC a full-service communications, advertising, grassroots, public affairs, and research firm. At Impact Strategies, he worked on the firm’s highest-profile engagements, involving athletes accused of using performance-enhancing drugs; entertainers facing tax evasion charges; politicians embroiled in personal and public crises; and corporations dealing with reputational threats.
Mr. Rene has also helped numerous individuals, associations, and corporations define and promote their personal and organizational brands via diverse media, including television and radio appearances, as well as media receptions and press conferences. Mr. Rene has implemented several consumer media relations and corporate branding campaigns for products such as Proctor & Gamble’s Febreze®, Clorox’s Fresh Step Crystals®, and Olestra (Olean).
In 2006, Mr. Rene was responsible for coordinating the media outreach for the funeral of Civil Rights icon, Coretta Scott King.
Before starting at Impact Strategies, Mr. Rene was with Qorvis Communications where he served as Director of several media campaigns. He led teams for multiple clients, including, the US Chamber of Commerce, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The Chandra Levy Family, and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
From 1997-2001.Mr. Rene served as Communications Director for the National Legal and Policy Center, a non-profit, nonpartisan foundation dedicated to promoting ethics and accountability in government.
Mr. Rene also served as Campaign Manager for Citizens For Reform where he implemented a nationwide grassroots campaign to bring accountability to legal services organizations. This successful effort led to the Legal Services Accountability Project that today continues to expose and publicize instances of abuse and lawbreaking by attorneys.
He has served in leadership roles in dozens of political campaigns in the Commonwealth of Virginia and volunteers for many candidates and causes. He is a Member of the National Eagle Scout Association and the Catholic Business Network.
Mr. Rene received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Longwood College in Farmville, VA in 1996.
