Trade Associations

There are times when one company’s crisis can potentially harm an entire industry. Similarly, when enough companies in one industry are affected by a problem, the best communications solution is a single source of consistent commentary to respond on behalf of all.

At such times, trade associations can play a vital role. When, for example, the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) engaged Levick’s Trade Associations team, the goal was to ease community concerns over styrene emissions from several ACMA member facilities and to minimize the likelihood of additional unneeded regulation.

Recalls often involve substances or defects that affect the products of multiple companies. The solution has to be industry-wide and the participation of a trade association is then necessary. Trade associations are also natural venues for crisis training, crisis planning, and crisis counsel. In unity there is strength.
