Employee Misconduct

It is a sad reality of our contemporary society that religious institutions, high schools, colleges, athletic organizations, and diverse other repositories of the public trust face horrific, often unjust exposure when members of their organizations are accused of personal misconduct that victimizes innocent people, often children. Understandably, the public ire is significantly enflamed when the misconduct involves sexual abuse.

Levick’s Employee Misconduct team has long worked sensitively and effectively behind the scenes to mitigate the impact of abusive behavior by employees on the reputations of our clients. We were counselors to an Order of the Catholic Church during the height of those scandals, and we have guided diverse educational institutions through similar traumas. The goal is maximum transparency to convince all critical stakeholders that everything that can be done is being done to confront the truth and support the injured.

Employee misconduct can take various forms, not just sex but gambling, violence, and narcotics. Where appropriate, we work to vindicate the accused. Typically, though, it’s the integrity and decency of the organizations themselves that we defend in and out of the media, online and off. At such times, they too are victims.
