Washington, D.C., December 13, 2007 –Babak Zafarnia, a widely experienced political and communications professional has joined Levick Strategic Communications as a Director in the firm’s International Affairs Practice Group. Zafarnia most recently served as the Communications and Legislative Director to U.S. Representative Nicholas V. Lampson (D-TX). In this role, Mr. Zafarnia was principal adviser to the Congressman's chairmanship of the House Science Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment, and represented the office on Congressional delegations to China and Malaysia. An energetic political insider, Zafarnia also worked as a Legislative Representative for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to advise the 1.4 million-member organization on transportation and energy matters. Previous to that, Zafarnia served as Press Secretary to U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey (D-PA) during his successful 2006 campaign, and Legislative Counsel for U.S. Representative Kenneth E. Bentsen (D-TX). Steve Ellis, Senior Vice President and head of Levick’s International Affairs Practice Group, said Zafarnia’s experience will translate into significant advantages for the firm’s clients.
