Bruce M. Hennes
Bruce Hennes brings a unique blend of crisis communications, public affairs, community relations and litigation communications expertise to his partnership with Levick Strategic Communications.
A veteran campaign manager for scores of political campaigns since 1972, along with with three years experience as executive director of a large nonprofit and three more years doing public relations in the automotive industry, Hennes opened his own public relations and public affairs consulting firm in 1989, now called Hennes Paynter Communications – the only firm in Ohio focused entirely on crisis communications. The firm also offers media training and litigation communications support to its government, education, business and nonprofit clients.
In the public sector, Mr. Hennes has developed and implemented winning communications strategies for The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
In the private sector, Mr. Hennes’ past and present roster of high-profile clients includes John Carroll University, KeyBank, Westfield Insurance (Farmer’s Insurance), MetroHealth Hospital, Case Western Reserve University and The Greater Cleveland Partnership (Cleveland’s Chamber of Commerce).
A 34-year resident of Cleveland, Ohio and a community leader in his own right, Mr. Hennes served as chairman of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association’s Public Affairs Committee and currently sits on the boards of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, Business Emergency Planning Institute, The Press Club of Cleveland and the Cleveland Leadership Center. He is also a founding member of the FBI Citizens Academy Foundation of Cleveland and president of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2008.
A frequent speaker at bar and trade associations, as well as for County Emergency Management Agencies, Mr. Hennes is a Graduate Lecturer in Advanced Communications/Media Relations at the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. He is also past president of The Cleveland Jewish News.
