Enron Entanglement

As prosecutors and plaintiffs lawyers went looking for deep pockets in the aftermath of the Enron scandal, a prestigious law firm faced censure and multiple law suits after an official report questioned legal opinions they’d written for the disgraced energy giant.

Through an “open kimono” media strategy, the firm incisively minimized the scope of its past work for Enron, effectively characterizing the allegations as a fishing expedition. There was not, as a result, a single negative story. Today, no one thinks of this firm as having ever been associated with Enron.
