Climbing the Ladder

Pitt Law ranked 58th in the U.S. News & World Report rankings – good but not good enough when each rung of the ladder has such decisive consequences for recruitment and donations. The law school had to cross the Top 50 boundary.

Pitt mounted a national media campaign to reach the far-flung U.S. News respondents as two-dozen professors became regular commentators on high-profile issues. Pitt’s bench strength exploded online and off. Two years later, the school exceeded its crucial goal and ranked 47th as a result of the collective effort.
