Sex Education

When the Office of Population Affairs of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services embarked on an important but sensitive mission to encourage parents to talk with their children about sex, a program was crafted to overcome the resistance of target populations. All media were utilized and crucial partnerships were formed with community organizations nationwide. The impact of the campaign was confirmed by independent evaluation, showing that, after exposure to campaign materials, mothers and fathers were likelier to identify specific risk factors of certain sexual behavior and talk to their children about healthy sexual decisions.
