Job Description

A LEVICK Intern plays a key role in contributing to the firms overall success. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in communications and marketing and have a basic understanding of media relations tactics. Our best candidates have experience pitching reporters, conducting research on various industries and topics, implementing social media strategies, and tracking and analyzing web and social analytics. Additionally, ideal candidates should have excellent written and oral communications skills, keen attention to detail, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the willingness to be part of a team. 

Requirements 
  • Have a demonstrated interest in communications and digital media
  • Be enrolled in a university and able to receive academic credit
Interpersonal Skills
  • Must be a self-starter who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is the daily norm
  • Must be able to transition easily from working as a team player to working independently
  • Must be someone who strives for excellence, with a desire to grow and learn from the experience
Responsibilities
  • Pitch reporters, conduct media and Internet research
  • Coordinate and write internal email newsletter
  • Track and analyze corporate marketing efforts
  • Conduct keyword research and assist in creating website page titles and descriptions
  • Participate in creative brainstorms around firm marketing efforts
  • Assist in content creation for web and social media channels (knowledge of Blog writing in WordPress ideal)
  • Post blogs and craft social media content
  • Assist with Facebook and Twitter advertising campaigns
  • Assist in the production of social media and Google Analytics reports
  • Provide administrative support including but not limited to:
    • Reception desk coverage & running office errands
    • Sorting and distribution of mail & shipping packages/postage
    • Monitoring fax machines, copiers, office supplies, and general office organization
    • Assist with set-up/clean-up of catered meetings and office events

Vice President, Legal Advisory and Communications

Vice President, Legal Advisory and Communications

LEVICK is seeking a Vice President for our Legal Advisory and Communications Practice. The ideal candidate will have 10 to 15 years of experience.

Requirements 

Writing

  • Participates in new business presentations and writes strategic proposals for potential clients that are unique to the client’s issue(s) and needs.
  • Is able to quickly and effectively review client deliverables, make worthwhile edits, and articulate the benefit to the client.
  • Takes “first pen” on specific, customized client deliverables at client request, or if acting as direct LEVICK contact with legal representation (i.e. – employs personal legal knowledge in direct service of client-facing products)
  • Listens to a client’s point of view and translates it into appropriate messaging that relevant audiences will understand and relate to.
  • Coordinates all legal team review of LEVICK editorial products
  • Proficient at reading a long, complicated document and reducing its major points to a simpler, cogent narrative.
  • Writes almost any deliverable in a relatively short time frame with little supervision from a Senior Vice President.
  • Instructs more junior staff on legal writing style and subject prioritizing based on legal preference

Media Relations

  • Articulately speaks to the media in person and over the phone about the client’s issue(s), message point(s), and digital initiatives.
  • Knows how to appropriately correct a reporter when a story contains false information or other inaccurate or misleading content.
  • Is able to effectively pitch a story or idea.
  • Briefs reporters in person on the fly and in real time (at a trial, congressional hearing, interview, etc.).
  • Takes the time to understand the media landscape in a particular trade, location, or publication, especially from a digital perspective.
  • Works to instruct journalists on legal language, process and nuance, and/or directs journalists to independent, verifiable and accurate third-party information on the law, as it applies to a specific client issue

Client Relationships and Client Knowledge

  • Manages client projects/programs.
  • Deals with the client on key opportunities, issues, and problems.
  • Delivers top quality work to clients utilizing leading edge tools and technology.
  • Helps develop client public relations programs.
  • Has deep knowledge of relevant client media.
  • Integrates digital and social media ideas into all client programs.
  • Shows great judgment and maturity in dealing with clients, influencers, and the media.
  • Understands the importance of stretch budget goals and tries to grow existing client business.
  • Can easily and flawlessly step in to the Senior Vice President’s role in his or her absence.
  • Acts as the chief coordinator in specific regard to litigation-related engagements. That is, is the central point of contact and organization for clients, internal and external counsel, other consultants etc… all in the service of team-accepted and employed uniform messaging

Account Management

  • Effectively oversees the time and productivity of account.
  • Demonstrates an ability to internally manage both executive and junior personnel.
  • Is able to appropriately delegate and distribute workload among a client team.
  • Works with the Senior Vice President to plan weeks or months ahead of time and ensures all aspects of the account run on time.
  • Is the client lead and primary contact point for the client.
  • Coordinates administrative issues and communications between legal teams (external law firms) and the client, as requested

Sales and Marketing

  • Consistently creates new business through outreach to qualified LEVICK prospects.
  • Participates in new business presentations and writes strategic proposals for potential clients.
  • Promotes the firm and him/herself via the LEVICK blog and other social media platforms.
  • Attends networking opportunities and actively researches and pursues possible new client leads.
  • Assists Senior Vice Presidents and other executives as the second chair in any and all new business pitches and opportunities.

Personal/ Internal Responsibilities

  • Supervises the performance and career development of junior and mid-level colleagues with whom she/he works.
  • Delivers strong, thoughtful career development reviews to direct reports.
  • Guides and teaches direct reports in all areas; encourages their strengths and helps overcome weaknesses.
  • Shows great judgment and maturity in dealing with more senior LEVICK executives as appropriate.
  • Personifies the definition of a “team player”.
  • Participates in management discussions on staffing.
  • Manages time effectively and ensures there is an appropriate balance between billable work, new business, and managing internal teams.

Job Description

A LEVICK Fellow plays a key role in contributing to their team’s efforts. They are expected to actively participate in group discussions and the digital engagement efforts of clients in all of the firm’s practice groups. They demonstrate interest in communications and an understanding of basic media relations tactics. The ideal candidate will have experience pitching reporters, conducting media and internet research, implementing social media tactics, and tracking and analyzing web and social analytics as part of a larger digital and traditional campaign strategy. They should have excellent written and oral communications skills, keen attention to detail, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In addition, Fellows will be expected to adhere to tight deadlines.

Requirements 
  • Have a demonstrated interest in communications and digital media
  • B.A. in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Policy Science preferred
